I am an apprentice of longtime islander and renowned crystalline glaze Master Potter, Joe Symons. With the simple base glaze ingredients of frit, zinc oxide, and silica, the firing profile is what makes all the difference to achieve these eye-catching patterns! The propane kiln is brought to a blazing cone 10 and held at temp for a specific time, giving the crystals time to grow their magic.
This rare glaze form ensures each piece is entirely unique and incredibly special.
